A framework in development to strengthen confidence in British honey and help responsible producers and packers demonstrate how their honey is produced, handled and traced.

Authenticity
Confidence that honey is what it claims to be. The Standard will set requirements intended to protect honey integrity and support evidence-based verification.

Traceability
Clear records will connect honey to its origin and follow it through handling and packing, creating transparency from producer to finished jar.

Responsible practice
Certified organisations will be expected to demonstrate appropriate controls, good practice and accountability for the activities within their certification scope.
The principles are clear now. The detailed technical requirements will be published as the Standard is finalised.
The Standard is being developed around authenticity, traceability and responsible practice across the honey supply chain, including honey producers and packing facilities.
The aim is to provide a simple, recognisable sign that the organisation behind the honey has been independently assessed against defined requirements, with certification that can be publicly checked.
The final technical requirements are still being developed. They will set out the evidence, records and controls needed to demonstrate conformity with the Standard.
Not yet. The framework and certification system are being built now, with the detailed technical requirements to be published once the Standard has been finalised.

Certification is designed to recognise producers and packing facilities that can demonstrate authenticity, traceability and responsible practice through clear evidence and independent verification.
