The Honey Standard

Complaints & appeals

If something concerns you, please let us know. You can contact THS about its service, information on this website, a possible misuse of its name or mark, or the handling of an application.

Raise a concern

Email info@thehoneystandard.co.uk with “Complaint” or “Concern” in the subject line. Include your name and contact details, what happened, relevant dates and what you would like us to consider.

If your concern relates to an organisation, certificate or online claim, include its name, reference number or web link. Share relevant supporting information, but avoid sending unrelated personal or confidential material.

Report a certification claim

If you see a claim that an organisation or product is certified by THS, use Verify a Certificate to check the available register information.

If the claim is unclear or appears inconsistent with the register, send us the wording, where you saw it and any relevant photographs or links. A concern is a request for investigation, not proof that wrongdoing has occurred.

Ask about an appeal

An appeal is a request to review a certification decision affecting your organisation. A complaint concerns the service, conduct or another issue.

The scheme and its formal appeals arrangements are still being developed. If you have received an application or assessment communication you want reviewed, contact us with the reference, the decision or communication involved and the reasons for your request. We will explain the applicable next steps.

What happens next

We will consider the information you provide, ask for clarification where needed and explain how the matter can be handled. Relevant information may need to be shared with the people involved to understand and respond to the concern.

The intended formal process will record concerns, manage conflicts of interest and provide review by someone who was not responsible for the disputed decision. Final procedures and any applicable timescales will be published as the scheme is established.

Food safety concerns

For an urgent food safety issue or a concern about food being sold, contact the relevant local authority or food regulator. THS is developing a voluntary assurance scheme and does not replace statutory enforcement or emergency services.
